Welcome to the VimpelCom blog

by Jean-Yves Charlier

Welcome to the new VimpelCom blog – an interactive space where myself and our CTO aim to share our experiences, discuss trends and issues facing the industry, as well as look at the challenges and opportunities that this new era represents for VimpelCom, our customers and the societies we work in. It will also contain thoughts and comments from our colleagues across the globe and include guest posts from experts in the social, digital and mobile worlds.

Our new blog reflects our new strategy to reinvent VimpelCom for the new digital era. It represents our view of the symbiotic relationship between business, technology and customer engagement – the heartbeat of the digital economy and something that is core to our business today.

We will talk a lot about the opportunities and trends developing in our world, and about how we are addressing them. In our first flight of posts, Yogesh Malik, our group CTO, writes about how the customers are now driving the rules of the technology game. Konstantin Kolesov, our CEO in Tajikistan, discusses how customers in developing markets are bringing improvisation to the digital world, and Augie K. Fabela II, our Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus, discusses cybersecurity as a shared global responsibility.

This blog is intended to be a platform for conversation and I encourage your comments and questions. Thank you for engaging and for being part of the discussion about our mobile and digital future. Yogesh and I look forward to hearing your views.

Thanks for the focused initiative from the top.

In developing markets, much more initiatives are required to educate people on internet & its potentials (on true words make them addicted to internets).

Looking forward to see Vimpelcom more than just a telecom infrastructure service providing company in very quick times otherwise if u r late, you are a dead horse by then!
